1 Peter 1:22-25 "Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God; for“All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord remains forever.”ESV

All flesh is like the grass and it's glory like a flower. When I arrived this morning the rose bush out front is blooming. There are buds, flowers and withered flowers on it. Peter uses just that to help us understand something, nothing that breaths lives forever. Yes plants breath, just not like us. The grass tell us life is short. That you and I need to appreciate every moment we have with our family, our friends and with God's church. We need to value life and live it to the glory of God. The flowers tell us just what Solomon found, without the Lord life is vanity. Your born, you mature and maybe gain a lot of things. Maybe hold high positions or excel at some sport. Then you wither, fall off and by and large are forgotten. That's cruel, no that's life without Jesus. With Jesus you still wither but then you are reborn, made new and are a joint heir with Jesus with Heaven as your eternal home. There you know everyone and everyone knows you but best of all you get to walk with God. As God's flower, you don't really bloom until you reach Heaven and then you are in bloom forever glorifying not yourself but Jesus.
